PRAYER GUIDES: New Video and Prayer Guide on Turkey` Once predominantly Christian, Turkey is now among the world's least evangelized countries. Ninety-nine percent of its 65 million people are Muslim. Most have never had a chance to hear the gospel. Yet God is bringing Turks to Himself through His Word. Truly, it is a time for harvest in Turkey. "Turkey: A Time for Harvest" is the newest in 'The Unreached Peoples' video series produced by Caleb Project. By the same title comes the newest of Caleb Project's 'People Group Prayer Guides'. The video ($12) contains a full-length version (12 min.) and a condensed version (3 min.), excellent for use on Sunday mornings to help lead you in prayer for an unreached people. The prayer guide ($3) has 20 pages of current information and prayer requests. Interesting insights into the lives of the Turks and their history. Shipping and handling is additional. PERSPECTIVES From: Amy Barstad < ABarstad@CProject.com > The Perspectives promo video is here! It is upbeat and positive and only a little over 4 minutes long. This means you can show it in your church service, Sunday School classes, Home Groups, Bible Studies and to pastors and leaders. The purpose is to prick the interest of the average Christian who has never heard of Perspectives. It begins in a GenX style with people telling the typical reasons why they wouldn't be interested in Perspectives. The bulk of the video is filled with testimonies of pastors, GenXers, Moms, Retired folks of how God used Perspectives to revive their lives. It was produced in partnership with a local Colorado PSP coordinator, Bill Scott, our Caleb Project Media Dept. (that produced "To the Ends of the Earth" and Light the Window") and Bill Coffin at Joyco studio. We spent close to $2,000 so we would like to recover some of the costs, so order now! US$8 through Caleb Project. Send orders to "abar!

stad@cproject.com ". Please include your mailing address.

THE MADURESE OF INDONESIA These are 8-minute motion-videos (as opposed to previous videos produced by Caleb Project which were 12-minute slide compilations). These videos are a gripping experience both for the eyes and for the heart. $10 (plus P&H: $3 within the U.S. Contact < Info@CProject.com > for international postage.) Independent Review: From: NWilson@CProject.com (Nate Wilson) I think CALEB PROJECT's videos would suit your purpose. They are slide compliations rather than moving pictures, but the photography is high quality. This year we hope to start with motion video profiles. Our stuff is generally about 12 min. long, profiling particular unreached people groups and giving prayer points.

Verify if this video is available from the Caleb Project MAYA MOPAN INDIANS From: Matt Castagna < Mcastagna@aol.com > Belize, Central America is home to some 6,000 Maya Mopan Indians Through this video you will learn about their history and past church planting efforts among them. You will also be challenged as you hear of the great need which still exists. [Matt just recently finished producing this 10-minute video based on his several years of experience in Belize, and I got to see it a couple of weeks ago. Nice footage of jungle scenery (and animals) and of the Maya people; missionary interviews could have been a little more fast-moving, though. It documents a classic case of non-contextualization in missions which has resulted in plenty of church buildings and meetings, but almost no true understanding of the Gospel in this unreached people group.--NW]

One thing to be aware of is that people may respond to this video by praying for a swift end to all persecution, rather than praying along more appropriate lines. Jon Hardin has put together an excellent compilation of Bible verses to follow up this video with Biblical prayer responses.--NW

THE RIFFI BERBERS OF NORTHERN MOROCCO -- Apart from the famous carpets that bear their name, the Berber people of Northern Africa are virtually unknown by the outside world. In the rugged, isolated Rif Mountains of Northern Morocco live a freedom-loving people who have clung tenaciously to their distinct cultural identity and language -- the Riffi Berbers. Caleb Project has recently produced a 28 page prayer guide and 11 minute video (with a condensed 3 minute version on the same video) focusing specifically on the 1.8 million Riffi (reef - ee) Berbers. There is no Bible in their native language and no indigenous Riffi church movement. According to workers serving among them, there are fewer than 50 Riffi believers in the world! Use these new tools to pray for the Kingdom of God to be established among one of the least evangelized people groups in the world. To order this prayer guide and video call Caleb Project at 303-730-4170, or email < info@cproject.com >.

DYNAMITE VIDEO INTRODUCES YOUR KIDS TO UNREACHED PEOPLE -- Okay... homeschoolers, Sunday-schoolers, youth-groupers, Junior churchers, VBSers, and *especially* pray-ers, HERE is a video you need to order.

Here's a review:
Caleb Project's new _Kids Around the World_ video on the 10/40 Window is a dynamite introduction to world religions and unreached peoples. It's fast-paced and yet filled with content. Tonight, we watched the 10-minute video for our family devotions and my 10-year-old and my 13-year-old were riveted to the whole thing. (You think I'm kidding, right?) I think it would work equally well for a 4-year-old too, because it's a *fun* video, as well as an informational one. And for $15, you won't beat it -- especially since it comes with a curriculum supplement for the educational-types. :-) You can even specify PAL format if you like! So browse today at: http://www.calebproject.org/reso.htm or email < orders@cproject.com > or even *phone* them at 303-730-4170 ext. 332.

VIDEO: UPG: The Malay - A Gentle Face of Islam Caleb Project has just released its latest mobilization video, "The Malay - A Gentle Face of Islam." As part of Caleb Project's Unreached Peoples video series, this new video gives focus to the Malay Muslims of Malaysia and Singapore. The purpose of the video is to broaden awareness of the Malay world and to provide Christians with a clear presentation of Malay history, culture and beliefs. Step into the day-to-day lives of the Malay and discover the beauty of these whom God has created for His glory.

We invite you to use this professionally-produced video in small group settings, Sunday School classes, and missions classes. Ask your church leadership for permission to include the video as part of a Sunday morning service focused on the Malay. Use this video to: Ignite Missions Awareness, Develop Vision for the Malay, Recruit Intercessors and Workers, and Spur the Gathering of Resources to Work Together for the Malay. Each video includes a full 14:45 minute version and an abbreviated 3:15 minute version.

Unreached People Groups. This disk is a database of text files identifying and explaining the life, customs, religion, and status of evangelism among more than 150 Unreached People Groups that are Within Our Reach.

The files are organized in a Hypertext Index fashion by continent, country, people group, and related documents. The program will run on any IBM compatible, DOS based computer XT, AT, 386, 486 or better. It requires about 1.5 megabytes of disk space on your hard drive. It will not run from windows.

The disk is self extracting creating a directory on drive C:\upgs. Then it extracts all the files to that directory and calls for the program to run when all files have been transfered. You must run the program as from DOS. It takes very little memory and is fast and efficient. To run the program just go to the directory (at the C:\ prompt type "cd upgs" (without the quotes) press Enter. Once in the directory type: GO

At the initial screen use only the up and down arrow keys to select the continent you wish to explore, press the Right Arrow Key to jump to the highlighted continent. A new screen will appear with an index of all countries on that continent. Select a country, press Enter or Right Arrow Key, and you will jump to an index of that country's Unreached Peoples Groups. Use the Arrow up/down keys to cursor up and down the menu. When you find a UPG you wish to read about Highlight it, and press the right arrow key.

To move out of any screen and back where you came from, press the left arrow key. To QUIT type "Q" then confirm with "Y" for Yes. To PRINT out any document be sure your printer is on and loaded with paper then press "P" The document will be printed. All files are in text format so they may be inserted into any word processor or desktop publisher for reformatting and printing.

The "LIGHT THE WINDOW" video is now a little dated, but the short 8 minute version is still a good introduction to the mission movement at the end of this century. Produced by CBN and Caleb Project, it lays the groundwork for the next "Pray Through the Window III" video (not the title) to come out later this year. In 1995, Bethany World Prayer Center accepted the challenge of producing prayer profiles on the Unreached. Each profile contains a photo, map, and information about the lifestyles, customs, and beliefs of the people. More importantly, it lists spiritual strongholds and addresses specific prayer needs.

Over the past two years, we have seen a wonderful increase of prayer interest for the Unreached through the ministry of the prayer profiles. As a local church, Bethany has selected fifty-two groups for prayer focus in 1998 and are giving a different profile to the congregation members each Sunday. That's 3,500 profiles we hand out, one per family. Already we are hearing positive responses from our pastors and our congregation of how the emphasis has broadened their awareness of the Unreached and increased their compassion for the lost.

Bethany Profiles Completed

The most comprehensive prayer and resource material ever produced on the Unreached Peoples is now available through Bethany World Prayer Center. The Unreached Peoples Prayer Profiles are 4 pages of quality information that include a map, up-to-date political & cultural data and a concise, well-researched write-up that explains who the people are, what their lives are like and how to pray for them. 12 c per profile (price breaks at 250 and 500) Complete sets available for $99 plus shipping (over 15 pounds!).

With the "World Prayer Center" in Colorado Springs nearing completion, Christian Information Network is rapidly becoming the leader in distributing information on the Unreached Peoples and promoting prayer for the nations. To help facilitate that work and vision, we are shifting the distribution of the prayer profiles to Colorado Springs. Complete sets may be ordered by calling 888-772-9104 or by e-mailing Lkayes@CIN1040.net

Adopt-A-People: A New Way for Local Churches to Be Involved in Global Missions

CBF's global missions strategy, with its priority on establishing a Christian witness among the unreached people groups of the world, has taken another step forward with a new initiative called "Adopt-A-People."

Missionaries Philip and Shantel Vestal are coordinating the effort to help churches become directly involved in "World A" missions by identifying and "adopting" an unreached people group.

"We believe through concentrated prayer, the giving of needed resources, and eventually through sending teams from local churches to these unreached people groups, the vision of reaching the unreached with the good news of the gospel can be realized," says Philip Vestal.

Adds Global Missions Coordinator Keith Parks: "This approach is an excellent way to live out the Fellowship's commitment to network, empower and mobilize Baptist churches in ministry. It personalizes missions and empowers each church to customize its missions efforts while maintaining the multiplying impact of cooperating with others."

"Adoption" of an Unreached People Group involves five steps:

Adopt-A-People is an opportunity for your church to live out its commitment to seeing the least evangelized peoples of the world come to salvation. It is an effort to link you with at least one Unreached People Group for the sake of reaching them with the Good News of the Gospel. It is a prayer-focused movement. It is an invitation to connect with the Holy Spirit. Finally, it is a great way for your church to take greater ownership and to become more involved in CBF global missions.

For more information, contact the Vestals by phone at 704-522-9606 or by e-mail at adopt@mindspring.com .

See the Unreached People Group pages or order the curriculum guide in Empowering Through Resources for informed praying for the world's unreached people.

New! A prayer request for CBF's ambitious eyeglasses project in a highly sensitive area of World A.

(See Empowering Through Resources or call 1-770-220-1600 for a free resource catalog from CBF to learn more about resources for missions praying and other facets of the Fellowship's mission and ministry.)

Eight videos and 18 profiles of unreached people group are available from CB International: video tapes on the Pattani Malay, Madurese, Rock People, Romany (Gypsy), Sundanese, Minangkabau, Albanian, and Arab American.

I am part of a small company that owns Betacam and DVCam equipment and an Avid Media Composer. Our goal has been to pay for equipment doing corporate work, but really to be able to do ministry work. We have started on the ministry side by doing promotional (fundraising) videos for ministries in the Chicago area. We would really like have a broader mission focus, either producing videos that can be used as tools to promote missions for mobilization purposes, or to create actual evangelistic tools.

I also direct Cup of Cold Water Ministries ( www.ccwm.org ), a small organization in Illinois that does mobilization with priority to the poor. My video company partner and I hope to do some shooting in India and Manila in November as our first real international venture. At the same time, we will be exploring networking opportunities and ways to help resource indigenous ministries.
