SURFING THE NATIONS

Christian Surfers Australia: http://www.christiansurfers.org.au

Did you know that - There are over 500,000 surfers in Japan who are virtually a totally unreached affinity group? After soccer and motor racing, surfing is one of Brazil's greatest sports and Brazil boasts the largest surf industry in the world? Surfers regularly infiltrate the Maldives, known as one of the most closed nations on earth to the gospel? There are 15,000 surfers in Italy? QANTAS cites the surfboard as the most traveled sports item after the golf club? And the connection to missions in this? According to Christian Surfers International, "Surfers are modern day missionaries." CSI points out that it is Christian surfers who are often the first tourists to come into an unreached area with others following later. Interesting eh?

Surfing with a Mission

A "Surfers For Mission" team in Noosa Australia are committed to using surfing as a strategy for reaching the unreached. Targeting 10/40 window nations like Indonesia where the 'mega unreached' coincide with a prolific surfing industry this team hopes to harness the adventurous spirit of surfers for the unfinished task. Their next training school starts March 18th in Noosa.
