Esther Legal Information Centre starts a new project.
We are going to publish a CD-Rom Disk with Complete Legal Library for Non-profit in October 2001.

As you know the Russian legal term 'non-profit' includes religious, social, educational, charitable and other noncommercial and selfinvesting organizations which do not share profit (even if they gain any) between founders (members) but re-invest in a socially beneficial projects within their charter.

Part of the materials will be in English. The databases on a CD-Rom will have Russian and English interfaces.

If you are interested in any particular legal forms or rules and regulations (local, federal) in English or in Russian you can let us know and we will include these materials in the CD-Rom.

We believe our project:

• will help in development of a Civil society in Russia,
  
• will help churches to be successful with their social and commercial (for example, publishing)activities,
  
• will equip human rights and religious freedom defenders with all of the necessary legal tools for victorious practice,

We've recently developed a hypertext Russian Bible, called "Hyper-Biblia."
It is available free of charge at our Web site. It also contains a harmony
of the Gospels, the Nicene Creed, God's plan of salvation, steps of following
Christ, the miracles and parables of Christ and several other appendices,
most with hypertext links to Scripture references.

Since it is hypertext, it runs identically on the WWW and offline on your
computer, except that it runs faster in offline mode (especially if you're
linking from Russia to our server in California).The New Testament contains
the cross-references to NT books. We are currently adding the OT and NT
cross-references to the rest of the Bible. This completely cross-referenced
version should be available this fall.

Announcing: *** New version of Hyper-Biblia Released ***

We are pleased to announce that a new, improved *FREE* version of
Hyper-Biblia has been published on our Web site:

Hyper-Biblia is the Russian Bible in hypertext format, complete with
"hot-links" to all cross-references in the Russian Synodal Translation. We
have replaced unfamiliar archaic words in the Bible with modern Russian
words, so that the Bible will be easier to read by the 95% of Russians who
have not grown up going to church and hearing the old Slavonic words.

To those 5% who understand and perhaps prefer the old Russian Synodal
Translation, we say "God bless you, keep on reading it!" Our version is for
the other 95% of Russian-speaking people.

We have now begun the process of normalizing the sentence structure. The
Russian Synodal Translation was translated directly from Greek, including
the Greek word order. This is the reason why adjectives often follow the
noun in the Russian Bible. By normalizing the sentence structure so that it
is closer to literary written Russian, it is much more real -- not like a
"skazka" (fairy tale).

The "Life of Jesus Christ in Historical Order" in the "prilozheniia"
(appendices), which is hypertext links to every event or teaching in the
life of Christ, arranged in chronological sequence, has been completely
normalized in sentence structure. You should notice a significant
improvement in the readability of the text. Try it and see what you think!

Future versions will have the entire New Testament, and then the entire
Bible, in normalized word order.

These files are available for *free* download and distribution. We have now
begun using the Russian archiver WinRAR, which has a significantly better
compression alogrythm, and results in much smaller archives, only 60% the
size of our previous archives using WinZIP.

Version 0.6, the New Testament is one self-installing archive file, about
565Kb in size.

Version 0.7, the entire Bible, consisting of Old Testament and New
Testament, consists of two self-installing archive files, the first one
about 1.44Mb in size, and the second one about 475Kb in size.

Both versions have been significantly improved to correct typographical
errors found in earlier versions. Also, every hypertext file that contains
Russian now has "charset=windows-1251" in the header, so that the Cyrillic
text will appear correctly if you use Internet Explorer.

* Many other helpful appendices are included in Hyper-Biblia, such as:

* the Nicene Creed, with God's plan of salvation and steps of following Christ,

* links to the miracles and parables of Jesus Christ,

* a daily Bible reading plan to read the Bible in one year,

* a customizable scripture memory program,
