The urgency of reaching people with the Gospel becomes even greater. You can play a vital role in proclaiming the Good News by praying daily for the world. With Operation World as your guide, you can pray intelligently for any country in the world. You will learn vital information about each country that will help you pray specifically for its needs. Operation World is the most widely used reference book for missions in the world. It has been used by missionaries and missions executives for years. Features include: - up-to-date statistics on the Eastern Bloc countries - prayer calendar enabling you to pray for the entire world in one year - detailed maps and graphs -- Operation World is your personal guide to praying for the world. It has been completely updated and revised to account for the phenomenal changes that have taken place in the past few years.
Encyclopedic in nature, Operation World is not only a good prayer tool but an insightful volume to read. Two purposes:
1. To inform for prayer; so the whole layout of the book is in the form of a prayer diary, with a section of prayer requests assigned for each day of the year.
2. To mobilize for witness; so information and relevant statistics are given to channel that witness to the least reached parts and peoples of our world. For many Christians this book is the only source of global information they will ever see. Earlier editions have become an essential resource for the growing missions movement around the world, particularly true of the non-English editions.

OPERATION WORLD
By Patrick Johnstone
Vital prayer information for every country of the world. No home should be
without this wealth of knowledge.
If you like statistics -- You're in luck. It's *loaded*! As mentioned above, you get the same database files that Patrick and company used to make the book! I mean... it's like having the international census information at your fingertips. Plus, I think they must have enclosed the entire CIA Factbook for each country too. So on your next trip to Michigan, take along a friend to drive . . . and you read CIA reference material for Portugal -- or whatever.
Michael Jaffarian, who researched most of the web links for the Operation World book and CD Rom, has provided his full research database (including star ratings and abstracts not included in the book or CDRom) for inclusion on the Operation World web site. These expanded listings may be reached from the web address above. The new web site update pages have a form where you can suggest new web sites. Users are invited to submit their favorite web sites for countries, regions, or topics of interest. This is an extremely valuable resource. Check it out. "For updated links, see . . ." links at the bottom of the Internet Links pages on the OW CD-ROM. From any country web site update page, click "Web Sites" on the Table of Contents to see the World and subject-related sites.
For the past four years Patrick Johnstone's life has been dominated by work on the new edition of Operation World. The all-absorbing nature of this project has meant that he has had little time for much else, including the production of a regular newsletter. With the new edition of Operation World completed and released, attention can now turn to those other neglected activities.

The Evangelical Christian Publishers' Association has recognized what missions groups have always known - Operation World is one of the best books around! The ECPA awarded both Operation World and the family edition "Window on the World" with the Gold Medallion Award for Excellence on July 13 in Anaheim, California. This indicates clearly that people are becoming increasingly missions- minded and are recognizing the value of intercession for the nations!
